The Wild Animal Sanctuary
Updated: Mar 20, 2020
I started my blog with a couple of posts last year, but now that this Coronavirus is really impacting our way of life, I decided to get back to my blog! I will start off with this post about my recent trip to The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado.
I have lived in Colorado my whole life and I never heard about The Wild Animal Sanctuary until just recently. I checked out their website and it definitely looked like a great place to see animals in a more "wild" setting rather than trapped in small enclosures like we see in most Zoo's. I am not trying to take anything away from Zoo's because I am sure they take good care of their animals, but this sanctuary is amazing because all the animals are rescues and it is nice to know that your money goes to an organization with the best of intentions. The sanctuary is not too far from Denver and is a great place to take the kids or in my case to go snap some awesome photos! The 1.5 mile long elevated walkway gives everyone a great view of the animals (remember to take your camera or binoculars).
Here are some of the shots I was able to get while renting the Sigma 150-600mm for my Nikon D850. (Keep in mind that the image quality was brought down a bit in order for the images to load quicker on my website).
This trip was really fun and it is a nice alternative to the usual Zoo visit. I would encourage you to visit their website here and visit the sanctuary when you have the time!
